An invitation to hope

by Jan on January 2, 2012

Extra! Extra! Changes Coming!

Change is an invitation to open up … it provides us with opportunities including the opportunity to heal, to grow, and to evolve.” ~ Mitchell May

When I looked up the definition of “invitation” I saw that it has two parts: as an incentive and as a provocation. Hope is both of these things. Hope brings rewards, it adds delight and sweetness. It is alluring and attractive. It also has another side, as the inciter of change, the line in the sand, the provocateur. With the idea that there is something better available, one of hope’s roles is to question the status quo, to rebel, to resist. Our mantra in the coming year: Hope is not for wimps!

In 2012 we’ll be expanding and exploring all the ways hope adds value to our lives. We will explore the language for hope, its subtlety and complexity, its meaning, its breadth. I want Hope on Hope to be a rich dialog about what hope means and to provide guidance to stay hopeful in difficult times.

This year we’ll be adding resources for you to find help (hope) for what we are facing in life including books, literature, poetry and links to research and resources on hope.

You may have noticed that we’ve started posting profiles with some wonderful people, our Heroes of Hope. There will be more conversations with inspiring people about their lives and their thoughts on hope, and we’re even creating videos! It is inspiring and informational–and fun!

Your voice is very important to us. We want to know what you would like to see from Hope on Hope in the coming year. What can we do to make it a more valuable, interesting, inspiring resource?

Thank you for being on the journey with us in 2011. We are very grateful for the time that you have taken with us on the journey of Hope on Hope.

This year we’ll be inviting in all of the facets of hope. We hope you continue to join us on this journey and share with us the difference that hope makes in your life.
